Emily is such a wonderful person and outstanding student who really represents what it means to be a true class act and dedicated team player. She excels academically, in sports, and as she works to make a difference in her community. She is a Freshman Honor Student taking all accelerated core courses at North Middlesex Regional School in Townsend. When she was younger, she had an advanced case of Lyme disease, which motivated her to set a goal to become a Physical Therapist to be able to help others. With her eye on that target as she was preparing to enter high school, she studied her father's college Biology book all summer, tested, and succeeded in being able to take Advanced Biology in her Freshman year. She is an avid reader and excels in writing. A star athlete, she competes on the JV track team in the 55 meter hurdles, and women's high jump, placing several times. She plays positions of catcher, short stop, and third base on the JV softball team. She also was a player on the both the freshman and JV field hockey teams. For her community, she works as an associate Best Buddy member helping students who are other abled to engage more. For two years, she ran the all night Relay for Life. This year her Pirates of the Cure-i-bbean team raised $1,300 for cancer. Emily also did the Walk for Breast Cancer in Boston last year. She plays saxophone in the School Concert Band, which recently won the gold medal in competition at MICA. That achievement qualified the band to participate in Stars at Symphony, and the band performed beautifully in Mechanics Hall in Worcester recently. As a member of the school concert choir, the chorus competed at the Riverside Church in NYC and won a gold medal, qualifying them to sing at Carnegie Hall. They also won Silver at MICA where they sang all in Latin and Italian. They were the last chorus to sing at the United Nations this Spring before the U.N. goes into renovations. Emily is also an accomplished Irish Dancer who has competed in National and qualified for World competition. She is one of those outstanding people who works hard and excels at everything she does. Moreover, she is lovely, kind, and compassionate, and surely will meet her life-goal of helping others and making a positive difference in this world. She is a true class act.
