Vittorio Ricci -- Masconomet High School
My son has raised $37K for Charcot-Marie-Tooth in one year since being diagnosed last summer. CMT is a rare disorder that affects the peripheral nerves mostly in the hands and feet. Vittorio is 15 years old and high honor student at Masconomet High School. Vittorio's positive outlook on life - is what has been so impressive. He wears carbon fiber leg braces on both legs and loves cross country, track and completed 2 triathlons. At a summer fundraiser, Vittorio was invited to the state house to have a proclamation signed by the Governor to have September Charcot-Marie-Tooth awareness month. CMT does not receive much attention in Massachusetts and anything we can do to help those living with CMT would be a great benefit. CMT is not life threatening but is progressive. Vittorio works very hard to keep himself in good shape - The CMTA is working on a treatment for CMT and we know it will happen soon. Vittorio knows everyone faces difficulties - but to work hard and not give up. He wears braces to walk - but he is still going to run. Vittorio has already inspired his teachers and fellow students. I would love everyone to hear his positive message.
