Corey Jacobson -- Pollard Middle School
At age 11, Corey Jacobson (now age 13) founded the Concert for Camp Kesem. This is a kids' musical concert benefiting Camp Kesem, a free college-run sleepaway camp for kids whose parent has (or had) cancer. This camp provides fun and refuge for kids with challenging family situations and provides comfort to their parents. Corey sought musical talent, community sponsorship, and visited Camp Kesem-MIT, the Massachusetts chapter of this remarkable camp. His first annual concert raised $4500, enough to send 8 additional children to camp. He has been recognized by the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center's one hundred for his contribution. The second annual concert will be held on Saturday September 21st at the Unitarian Universalist Church, Needham from 1-3pm.
