Glenn Close in Boston for mental illness fundraiser
BOSTON (WHDH) -- A big-name actress made a local appearance in Boston over the weekend.
Glenn Close was in Jamaica Plain to raise awareness about an important issue.
She attended a fundraiser for the National Alliance of Mental Illness.
The actress co-founded the organization, "Bring Change to Mind."
The group aims to address misconceptions about mental health issues.
“Stigma, which is our kind of lean and mean mission, you've got to hit it from all sides. It's one of the aspects of the whole mental health landscape which has been the most difficult, or is, I would say, the most difficult to change,” said Close.
Close's sister and nephew both live with mental illness.
