Photographer attacked by Gaga's security
BOSTON -- One of Lady Gaga’s personal security guards crossed the line Wednesday night when he attacked a photographer outside the Ritz Carlton hotel in Boston.
The photographer, who was trying to snap a photo of Lady Gaga, is now considering pressing charges after the scuffle, which occurred around 11 p.m.
“I’m actually a fan of her music, I like her, and to have her bodyguard just punch me in the face is pretty upsetting,” said Carl Wu, a freelance photographer.
According to Wu, he was trying to take a picture of Gaga Wednesday night as she was pulling into a parking garage.
“She’s a pretty big name so I was like, ‘Can I take a few photos?’ The guy was like, ‘No, get out of here’ and I was like, ‘I won’t get in her way or anything, just take a few photos,’” said Wu.
Wu claims that is when the security guard went on the attack.
“He punched me in the face over here, I fell down to the ground and he pushed down to the ground and said ‘Get out!’ My battery pack flew out of my bag and I was like ‘Whoa, wait a minute, you can’t do this,’” said Wu.
Wu ran down the parking ramp to chase after Gaga’s SUV.
According to the police report, he was asked to leave because he was trespassing and causing a disturbance, which Wu denies.
“I have a cut on my lip over here and he just pushed me out. All this time Lady Gaga was just sitting in the car, and I guess she watched the whole thing. When I got to the top of the garage she went inside the hotel,” said Wu.
Wu did not end up snapping a photo of Gaga, but has been hoping to capture one on Thursday.
There is no word yet from Gaga’s representatives on the incident.
