'Hellcats' debuts on CW56

The edgy new drama “Hellcats” debuts Wednesday on CW56.
The plot gets you wrapped up in the wild ride of being a college cheerleader.
In the show, character Marti Perkins, played by Aly Michalka, is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
After learning her college scholarship is cancelled, the only way she can stay in school is to join the cheerleading squad.
The show combines laughter with drama, according to Michalka.
“A lot of drama and comedy mixed in. I love that show is going to make people laugh and then cry all within one episode,” said Michalka.
“The dancing scenes are great, the music is awesome,” said co-star Ashley Tisdale, who plays cheerleader Savannah Monroe.
The show's stars say you can expect a lot of different things in “Hellcats,” including an array of music and dancing, but not quite to the tune of other shows like "Glee."
“It definitely has the energy of 'Glee' in the way that brings you in as an audience member and it makes you feel excited, but it's in a very real setting,” said Michalka.
Viewers will also find a little romance in "Hellcats."
Most of the stunts were handled by the real actors. Stunt doubles are only used in the tumble scenes.
“Hellcats” airs Wednesday night at 10 on CW56.
