Amaro, Elton John in Super Bowl ad for Pepsi

INDIANAPOLIS -- Melanie Amaro was the winner of the first season of Simon Cowell’s “X-Factor” along with a $5 million record deal and a primetime performance -- she is starring in a Super Bowl commercial alongside a music icon that just happens to be a big Patriots fan.
Pepsi pulled out all the stops for the commercial -- a 60 second spot that costs $7 million to air. The commercial kicks off with Sir Elton John as the king of rock and ends with Amaro.
7News caught up with Amaro at the Pepsi party in Indianapolis. The 19-year-old singer is hoping for a Super Bowl commercial hit.
“It was a lot of work, but it came out wonderful,” said Amaro.
Amaro said every minute working with Elton was worth it.
“He was down to earth, he was funny. He made me laugh. While on set we talked a lot. We had time to chat about how he sold so many albums. He said he just did what he loved,” said Amaro.
