Kate Middleton with military on St. Patrick’s Day

UNDATED (WHDH) -- The Duchess of Cambridge celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day with some members of Britain’s military.

It was the first solo military engagement for the future queen and it capped off a very busy week for Kate Middleton.

Kate’s husband Prince William has been gone for six weeks in the Falkland Islands.

“Prince William’s office was very keen to keep her busy while he was in the Falklands,” said Camilla Tominey, NBC Royal Expert.

On Monday, she will give her first public speech.
