BOSTON (WHDH) -- Bostonians came out in droves for the Hunger Games premiere Thursday night. As the first showings let out, 7News was there for reaction from fans.

Moviegoers who had awaited the film’s release since reading Suzanne Collins’ series of books said they were hoping the silver screen version would live up to their expectations. For many, it did not disappoint.

“It was unbelievable -- every scene -- it goes right with the book,” one fan said. “I literally read the book last week and it’s so point-on like who says what and where things happen and how it happens, like, the timeline is so beautifully set.”

“I thought that they did a great job taking the book to film,” another said. “It really was spot on and spectacular.”

Friday night showings of the Hunger Games were already sold out early Friday morning.
