BOSTON (WHDH) -- Most people who’ve cooked know firsthand that a few innocent errors can easily lead to disappointing dishes - but if you follow these tips from Bobby Flay - you’ll be cooking like an Iron Chef in no time!
Celebrity chef and restaurant owner Bobby Flay has helped a lot of people learn to cook better.
And he said there are a few fundamentals we can all follow.
“People are too timid with salt and pepper. When you think you are done seasoning, go a little further,” said Flay.
“If you don't do that well, all the ingredients, whether it’s a burger or a piece of fish, you are never gonna experience the full flavor of that particualr ingredient, let the salt and pepper bring them out, bring out the natural flavors,” explained Flay.
Since Bobby Flay is the expert on burgers -- we needed his best advice!
“People flip things way too much....we flip the burger one time, not a bunch of times. That really important for a technique,” he said.
And when it comes to cooking times -- don't think that if it's not burnt, it's not done!
“I think that people cook things longer than they should. A lot of times people say I love cooking steak, but every time I cook it on the grill, it's always overcooked. Well, cook it less,” said Flay.
7News also asked what Bobby Flay always has in his fridge. He said he always has several kinds of mustard, coconut water to rehydrate and some ice cream as a treat.
