Mass. native to star in new CW show 'Breaking Pointe'
UNDATED (WHDH) -- From grace and perfection to jealousy and competition; it's the world of ballet. And for elite dancers, it’s a way of life that’s about to be featured in the new CW show called ‘Breaking Pointe,” and one of the stars is from Massachusetts.
Christiana Bennette, 32, grew up in Townsend, attended dance class in Acton, then moved west and became a principal dancer in the Salt Lake City Ballet Company.
"Growing up in Townsend and growing up in Massachusetts made me a more grounded person,” Bennette said. “I don't know. Yes ballet was a huge part of my life. But I also lived a completely normal life."
It’s a normal life that is about to be featured in the new CW show "Breaking Pointe."
"It's going to be a six part docudrama and it’s going to detail our lives and what it’s really like to be a dancer in an American ballet company. And you are going to see the blood the sweat the tears," Bennette said.
The show will take viewers from the studio to the stage.
“You’re going to see what we go through on a daily basis to get ready to perform for an audience…you’re also going to see us very business-like,” Bennette said.
It’s a business that is built on physical hard work.
"We rehearse at least six hours a day and that doesn’t include class to begin to warm us up. Not only do we do that, but we go to the gym, we do yoga,” Bennette said. "You are going to see people dealing with their personal sides to their life, what they’re going through emotionally.”
It's being an artist and dancer in Salt Lake that Bennette says she enjoys most.
"I am so happy where I am and it is just so amazing to live every day being an artist and working towards a common goal," Bennette said.
You can catch Bennette and the other dancers starting Thursday at 8, on CW56.
