Stars hit Woburn streets to film new movie
WOBURN, Mass. (WHDH) -- Hollywood stars hit the streets of Woburn Tuesday as they filmed a new movie. 7News captured Amy Adams, Christian Bale and Jennifer Lawrence in action.
The film, which doesn’t have a title yet, is generating a lot of buzz around the Bay State.
“It’s exciting! [I saw] Christian Bale and Amy Adams,” said one woman.
It is based on a 1970s FBI sting operation that uncovered political corruption.
Producers carefully selected the architecturally-appropriate Clapp Elementary School in Woburn, and filled the scene with an impressive array of period cars and costumes.
For some scenes, 7News learned they asked residents to take down their satellite dishes in order to maintain continuity with the era.
The chance to catch a glimpse of a star drew many to the set.
“My friend…and I, we skipped school today, and came down to the movie set. We’ve been here since like 8 a.m.,” said Trevor Barnett, who watched the filming Tuesday.
After a short rain delay Tuesday, it was all work. The scenes featured a number of extras, including children, all dressed to take people back to the 1970s.
The film also stars Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro and Jeremy Renner. They were not present for Tuesday’s filming.
The movie has been filmed all over Massachusetts. It is set to be released on Christmas Day.
