Mark Wahlberg visits Hingham to premiere new movie
HINGHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -- Hometown boy Mark Wahlberg brought a little bit of Hollywood to Hingham Tuesday night.
“To come back and share something that I’m so proud of with family and friends and for such a great cause, it’s a great thing,” he said.
He came to town for a special screening of his new movie “2 Guns.” He stars in the movie with Denzel Washington, both not knowing the other is an undercover agent. They two have to team up and work together. Wahlberg said his mother is excited to see her favorite actor on the big screen, and he’s not talking about himself.
“Her favorite actor in the whole world you would think is me, but it’s Denzel Washington. I’m her second favorite. I actually give Denzel a run for his money. It’s actually one of the best reviewed movies of the summer,” Wahlberg said.
And his mother, who just happened to also be his date for the screening, couldn’t be happier.
“Very excited. I got to meet him though!” said Wahlberg’s mother, Alma.
“He’s shooting right now in downtown Boston so he’s a little busy. I arranged a set visit for her, lots of pics. Thankfully he’s secure in his marriage and he won’t be my stepfather by the weekend,” said Walhberg.
Another big star in the movie, Bill Paxton, came to walk the red carpet as well.
“I know Mark’s whole family, he knows my whole family, but we didn’t really have a chance to work together until “2 Guns.” We had a lot of fun making the movie, we had the premiere last night in New York City and everyone seemed to enjoy the film,” said Paxton.
The movie “2 Guns” opens nation-wide on Friday.
