UNDATED (WHDH) -- Actress Amy Adams spoke with 7News about her latest movie hitting the big screen. "The Master" is already getting Oscar buzz, but she also talked to us about another – “The Fighter,” which was shot in Massachusetts.
"The Master" follows a World War II veteran as he returns to a home he no longer recognizes.
Struggling to adjust, the man -- played by Joaquin Phoenix -- meets the leader of an intense philosophical movement. That leader is played by Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Oscar winner Amy Adams plays Hoffman’s wife.
“She's very devout and some would say manipulative and just very passionate about her man and this philosophy that he's started,” said Adams.
Adams has gotten a lot of attention for her varied roles, but she calls this filming experience unique.
Her daughter was just one-year-old at the time and wasn't sleeping through the night.
“I was working nights so I was sometimes going to set on just a couple hours of sleep, which I know all mothers can relate to,” Adams said.
However, Adams says that lack of sleep actually ended up helping her act like a cult member.
“I just sort of let the insanity play out on screen, which is very helpful in the role that I’m playing,” Adams explained.
"The Master" is already getting Oscar buzz.
A phenomenon Adams should be used to after her Oscar -- nominated movie "The Fighter," shot right here in New England.
“I loved it. We were right outside of Lowell, and I never spent time there before. And I absolutely loved it,” Adams said.
She won all kinds of accolades for that movie -- including kudos for her Boston accent.
Adams says she has another film coming up that could end up shooting in Massachusetts, but she kept her lips sealed on any details. Meanwhile, "The Master" is showing in theaters now.
