UNDATED (WHDH) -- Hometown guy and star of The Office is back in Boston to attend a screening of his new movie "The Promised Land."

“As soon as I saw VIP on the poster I was like, ‘this is a VIP screening?’ I don’t know if I'm suppose to be here!” said John Krasinski.

It's a drama about a man who goes to a small town and tries to get people there to lease their land to drill for natural gas.

“In this day and age it’s a pretty decent sell. Our whole thing was going in and discussing the people,” said Krasinski.

He not only stars in the movie, he wrote the screenplay with another local guy, Matt Damon.

“To actually work with him on it then to write with him I almost felt like it was sac religious to be anywhere near him without Ben,” said Krasinski.

With his day job on "The Office" wrapping up, we wanted to get some hints about how it all ends. He said to keep an eye on the fake documentary crew that's been following all the characters around.

“You'll just see how we're interacting and how they're basically gonna keep filming us and we're now very aware that they're filming,” said Krasinski.

When asked if Michael Scott will make a come back, Krasinski said, “God I hope so! Any time Steve is on set it’s a blast. I get very little work done cause I’m laughing!”

Also, being home for Thanksgiving gives Krasinski a chance to watch the Patriots.

“I think with Gronk out that’s really tough. I’m a big Wes Welker fan so I think he will get activated even more than he is,” said Krasinski.

The Office wraps up in the spring.
