Teen sits next to Bieber at Heat game, makes headlines
MIAMI (WHDH) -- A South Florida girl is finding herself in the spotlight after sitting next to Justin Bieber at a Miami Heat game.
Justin Bieber keeping company with a brunette? No surprise there, but that was not Selena Gomez court-side brushing up against Bieber at Monday night's Eastern Conference Finals. "I mean, I was freaking out," said Haleigh Youtie. "I'm not like an obsessed fan, but obviously it's Justin Bieber. "I attempted to talk to him, but he wasn't feeling it."
"Everyone's like, 'You're sitting next to Justin, you need to talk to him, you need to do something,'" said Haleigh.
The teen tried to make several conversations with Bieber, but he was very short with his answers. "He like, wasn't letting anyone take pics of him, even by himself, so I was like, 'You obviously love the cameras,' so he was like ',Yeah.' It was just really uncomfortable," said Haleigh.
Bieber barely budged or cracked a smile from under his shades while watching the game.
After Haleigh posted a picture of her and the pop star on Instagram she said, "I check at the game, and I have 1,000 follower requests. Literally, people finding out all my info and liked. Twelve-year-old fan page girls were like, 'We're going to come beat you up,'" she said.
The shot sparked a worldwide catfight with Bieber's fans. "Literally, I was honestly scared for my life, made my parents leave the game a few minutes early, had to go on private on all my accounts," said Haleigh.
"If anyone saw for a second what was going on they'd see we didn't even talk to each other, look at each other, and all the sudden I'm his girlfriend ... I guess," said Haleigh. Well,, at least according to celebrity-stalking headlines and Hollywood shows who dubbed Haleigh the "Mystery Girl."
Bieber might be the star, but Monday night, was totally Haleigh, the hometown girl, who got the spotlight. "He's definitely reading my text messages because he's obviously very interested in my life," said Haleigh. "I honestly was about to go up to him and be like, 'You just made me famous, thank you.'"
Haleigh will be back at the American Airlines Arena on Thursday watching the Heat play against the Spurs for game one of the NBA Finals.
