Michelle Chamuel looks back on season before finale
LOS ANGELES (WHDH) – 40,000 contestants around the country competed to be the champion of “The Voice”, but only one winner will be crowned Tuesday night. Local contestant, Michelle Chamuel, is one of four left to compete for the win.
This season Chamuel has performed with Fall Out Boy, reheared with Taylor Swift, and Monday night she sang with her coach, Usher.
Tuesday night, she will finish the season singing a duet with One Republic. Also on the list on the star-studded finale, original “Voice” coach Christina Aguilera, Pitbull, Florida Georgia Line, and Cher, who hasn’t performed live in more than a decade.
“I am so excited to see all the performances. The top 16 are back doing a whole bunch of group numbers, crazy, talented artists that I’ve been listening to for a lot of my life are going to be there performing and even some before I was born. So that’s going to be super cool,” said Chamuel.
It has been a whirlwind season for the former waitress from Amherst, who knocked her performances out of the park Monday night, including the song “Why” by Annie Lennox.
“I was nervous before. I was like, oh my God this legendary Annie Lennox tune and these lyrics, I was just like, man don’t mess any of them up. That was nervous,” said Chamuel.
Chamuel’s rendition of it rocked up the charts of iTunes within hours and it made the top five songs downloaded this morning. But despite the outcome of the finale, Chamuel’s mom said she’s already a winner.
“I think it just brought us even closer together and to see her embrace life and embrace music and other participants and loving every moment of it is what, seeing her embrace life and make life so wonderful like that. I think that’s what makes me happy,” said her mother, Jolie Davie.
Chamuel said despite the big finale, she’s not really thinking about winning, she’s just trying to stay in the moment.
“The Voice” finale begins at nine o’clock.
