The Voice narrows to top 12 contestants
Los Angeles (WHDH) -- America voted, the results are in and now The Voice has just 12 final contestants left.
Trying to prove they are "stronger,” 'The Voice' contestants headed into a night of eliminations.
Viewers voted and saved two singers from each team and the coaches each got to save one more.
“I know we're all in a cringe worthy moment. It will be really tough,” said Christina Aguilera.
For Adam Levine's save he went for what he called the most unique voice.
“Moving forward I’m going to choose... Melanie [Martinez],” he said.
Then it was Blake Shelton’s turn. He saved Michaela Paige.
Before she announced her decision, Christina Aguilera stressed that her contestants should never let anyone's opinion define them.
“My choice, this is so hard. My choice in seeing you guys go further today, here and now, is Adrianna,” said Aguilera.
And as the last save of the night, Cee-Lo went with most improved.
"I got to go with Cody,” said Cee-Lo.
But the night wasn't all about delivering bad news.
Adam Levine joined Maroon 5 to rock the crowd with their new song.
On the red carpet, 7News caught up with some of the lucky contestants to make it through, including Michaela Paige from Team Blake.
“Being save by Blake was just overwhelming and now I’m just so excited to be able to celebrate with the top 12,” said Paige.
The host of 'The Voice,' Carson Daly, said this competition is all about the love of music.
“People thought we were crazy to do another one of these singing competition shows in season one and here we are in season three and it just seems like that momentum, that organic, authentic music that we do on the show is just paying off and America’s enjoying it and we’re just so honored,” said Daly.
The coaches made their way down the red carpet and into the after-party, a star-studded concert where they all performed.
We will have more from the contestants and judges as the competition heats up.
