NBC medical drama "Saving Hope" arrives
UNDATED (NBC) -- A car accident leaves Chief Surgeon Charlie Harris in a coma just days before his wedding to fellow surgeon Alex Reed in the new NBC Thursday night drama 'Saving Hope.'
"She's this pragmatic, very scientific kind of woman, and she's forced to question all of those things in her desperation to get contact back with him again," said actress Erica Durance of her role of Alex Reed.
But there's more contact than Alex realizes.
In "Saving Hope," Charlie's spirit is able to watch what is going on at Hope Zion Hospital as he awaits his ultimate fate.
That means encountering the occasional former patient.
"He becomes sort of a person to talk to a little company to keep along the way," said Michael Shanks who is playing the lead role.
Alex meantime has company of her own, working alongside Joel, a recently arrived surgeon, and former flame.
"People want to leave the option of dramatic potential open, but certainly for us at the moment, we're just trying to bear up against the storm of what happened to her," said Daniel Gilles, who plays Joel.
To Alex and Charlie, belief is at the heart of 'Saving Hope.'
