Family of Rachel Entwistle reacts to verdicts

WOBURN, Mass. -- Rachel Entwistle's mother and stepfather chose not to answer questions from reporters after a jury convicted Neil Entwistle of first-degree murder.

In a brief statement, Joe Matterazzo thanked all those who offered prayers and support after the deaths of Rachel and Lillian Entwistle, including students at a Catholic high school in England where Rachel once taught English.

A family spokesman said Neil Entwistle betrayed his family's trust.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone condemned Entwistle for "compounding the unspeakable nature" of the crime, by disparaging his wife's memory and vilifying her entire family.

Leone was referring to the defense claim that Rachel Entwistle killed the baby and then committed suicide.
