Norton man dies in head-on collision with plow truck
NORTON, Mass. (AP) -- Police say a 50-year-old Norton man has died after his SUV struck a town-owned snowplow head-on.
Police say the plow driver was traveling east on Route 123 just before 3 p.m. Tuesday and an SUV driven by William Lozeau was coming in the opposite direction.
The SUV veered into the opposite lane, striking the snowplow.
Lozeau was unresponsive when he was pulled from his vehicle and was pronounced dead at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
The driver of the Norton Public Works Department plow, 48-year-old George Guptill of Cumberland, R.I., was also brought to the hospital. The road was clear of snow and the plow was not in its lowered position at the time of impact.
Guptill was not cited.
