Storms move into the area, lightning strikes home
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Strong storms moved into the area Thursday evening, bringing a lot of rain, thunder and lightning.
The wild weather did some damage in Sharon, where lightning hit the side of a house and started a small fire. The fire was extinguished.
“When I looked at the side of the house, which obviously has some damage, I called the fireman, ‘hey, you got the wrong house,’” said Martin Becker, Sharon homeowner.
The strike was a direct hit; charring and scaring their Firebrick Road home, blasting off siding -- creating a sharp landmine in their yard.
“There seems to be a little bit of separation of the side of the house from the peak and perhaps part of the roof was lifted a little,” Becker said.
Along with straightening her paintings, Rosette Becker assessed the damage from the voltage, and it could be found everywhere.
Rain also caused flooding problems in Quincy.
Rain-soaked roads also tied up the evening commute.
