Son-in-law of slain Taunton man faces murder charge

TAUNTON, Mass. -- The son-in-law of a Taunton man found slain in his home has been charged with murder.
Prosecutors say Richard Carreiro-Forbes is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Taunton District Court on charges connected to the death of 59-year-old Francis Doug Carreiro. Carreiro was found dead in his home on Aug. 21 by a friend worried about his well-being.
An autopsy determined that the death was a homicide, although authorities have not disclosed the manner of death.
Carreiro-Forbes had previously told the Taunton Daily Gazette that he believed his father-in-law's death was of natural causes because he had health problems.
A second man has been charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder. That was man was ordered held on $50,000 bail after pleading not guilty on Wednesday.
