Pit bull that saved owner from train is on the mend

SHIRLEY, Mass. (WHDH) -- A heroic dog from Shirley is on the mend.

Lilly, a pit bull who was hit by a train while saving her owner, is getting back on her feet.

The accident left Lilly with a broken pelvis and her leg had to be amputated. Since Lilly’s story came out, more than $60,000 has been donated to a pet care assistance fund.

The dog’s family will end up paying no bill’s for her care.
