Many people believe that pet stores are the only source for parakeets and other small animals. But this week’s MSPCA-Angell Pet of the Week reminds us all that animal shelters are chock full of parakeets that make delightful pets. Moreover, unlike in most pet stores, parakeets adopted from the MSPCA-Angell undergo a full veterinary exam before they go home. So…without further adieux: meet Kiko!
Kiko is a 2-year-old female parakeet. She is very friendly and loves to chirp, play with toys and admire herself in the mirror. She would do very well as a single bird and would also enjoy the company of other parakeets, as these birds tend to enjoy having a partner to share their cage with. She is in wonderful health and is ready to go to a new home today. The MSPCA would prefer to find an owner with at least some bird experience, however parakeets make wonderful “first time” pets to any committed animal caretaker.
