Old mortar shell found inside Haverhill home

HAVERHILL, Mass. (WHDH) -- An old mortar shell was found at a home on Greenlawn Avenue in Haverhill Monday afternoon.

The homeowner found the mortar shell while cleaning.

The State Police Bomb Squad responded to the scene. Police and firefighters roped off the area as they investigated.

Officials are unsure if the mortar is live.
