Bay State policemen grant young cancer patient's wish

UNDATED (WHDH) -- A little boy's wish has been granted thanks to the dedication of hundreds of police officers from New England.

In 100 cruisers, 250 New England police officers drove about 625 miles to Virginia on a top-secret trip for 5-year-old cancer patient, Nathan Norman.

"It touches anyone who is a parent. I have two kids and you just feel for anyone who’s going through something like that," said Lt. Chris Munger, Watertown Police Department.

Nathan, who's battling a rare form of brain and spine cancer, had just one wish this holiday: to receive Christmas cards from his first-responder heroes.

Officers from across the country, including ones from the Bay State, decided to head south to answer his request and hand deliver the cards.

"To have someone going through that tragedy just reach out and say, ‘Hey, I’d just like some Christmas cards,’ and when the Burlington officers put out and said, ‘Instead of mailing them…let’s hand deliver them,’and it just took off from there."

Along with hundreds of cards, the Christmas convoy brought some extra surprises like this Boston police car. Nathan even got to give some orders to the officers

In the end, there were many happy faces all around.
