Shooting victims face foreclosure
EASTON, Mass. -- Two sisters, shot by their mother's boyfriend in 2007, beat the odds and recovered. Now, they face a new challenge.
Danielle and Brittaney Cann may be without a home because the house they live in with their father was set to go up for auction Tuesday.
The Cann sisters were found shot in the head at their home in August 2007. Their mother, Elizabeth Cann, was killed in the attack, along with their dog.
The attack was carried out by their mother's former boyfriend, Robert McDermott. He later committed suicide.
"We have two modern day miracles in our home, so nothing but good could happen for us I would hope," said Melissa Cann, the girls' stepmother.
The family rents the home and has never missed a rent check, but the home's owner went into foreclosure and the home was scheduled to be auctioned.
"Moving is probably more in our future, than not," said Wayne Cann, the girls' father.
