Man charged in MBTA bus assault

BOSTON -- A Cambridge man was arrested for an indecent assault on a Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority bus Tuesday night.
Rayfield McCants, 28, was arrested after he intentionally rubbed himself against a woman on a bus, followed her when she got off and continued to harass her until a MBTA bus driver intervened.
"When he first got on the bus he sat next to her and I had basically an empty bus," said Pat Coughlin, MBTA bus driver. "I thought right away that there was going to be a problem."
That is when the suspect pushed himself against the woman.
The victim got off the bus a few stops later, but McCants followed her. Coughlin witnessed the incident and told the woman to get back on the bus.
"She was hysterical at that point, I kept her on the bus and tried to console her as much as I could," said Coughlin.
Police caught up with McCants and arrested him.
McCants was charged with indecent assault and battery. He was held on $5,000 cash bail and is due back in court next month.
