'Clark Rockefeller' to seek dismissal of charges
BOSTON -- The man who calls himself Clark Rockefeller plans to ask a judge to dismiss some of the charges against him in the kidnapping of his 7-year-old daughter.
Rockefeller's real identity is Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter, (GAYR'-hahrtz-ry-tur), a German national who moved to the United States in the late 1970s. Authorities say he used a string of fake identities to establish himself in wealthy circles in New York, Boston and Los Angeles.
Gerhartsreiter is charged with parental kidnapping, two assault charges and giving a false name to police. He is accused of snatching his daughter during a supervised visit in Boston last July. They were found in Baltimore six days later. The girl was unharmed.
Defense lawyers are scheduled to file a motion Friday to dimiss at least some of the charges.
