EAST BOSTON -- Emergency medical technicians and two East Boston teachers were honored Tuesday by the American Heart Association.

Representative Carlo Basile and City Councilor Sal LaMattina were both on hand for the event at East Boston Central Catholic School.

Last February, six-year-old Olivia Quigley collapsed during gym class and her heart stopped beating. That's when Kathy Carabine started CPR with Robert Casaletto. They were able to revive Quigley.

Quigley was then rushed to the hospital. Doctors say she has a heart condition and have worked to prevent a similar incident in the future.
