Mass. Democrat says he'll run for treasurer

BOSTON -- A candidate for the Democratic nomination for treasurer in Massachusetts has already stepped forward, a day after incumbent Timothy Cahill announced he'll switch from Democrat to independent.
Steve Grossman, former Democratic National Committee chairman, said Tuesday he plans to run for treasurer.
Grossman said he expects Cahill to run for governor, but he noted that even if Cahill decides to run for re-election, the Democratic nomination is up for grabs.
Grossman said he expects he'll have some competition.
Cahill hasn't said if he'll try to unseat Democratic Gov. Deval Patrick or run for re-election.
