MONT VERNON, N.H. -- Hundreds of friends, neighbors and well-wishers gathered for a candlelight vigil in Mont Vernon to mourn a 42-year-old New Hampshire woman who was killed when four teenagers entered her rural home intending to kill.

Kimberly Cates was killed in her bed early Sunday morning. Her 11-year-old daughter, Jaime, was seriously injured in the attack.

On Wednesday, people converged outside the Mont Vernon Village School, remembering the part-time nurse as outgoing and friendly. Some said they were stunned by the brutal attack.

Seventeen-year-old Steven Spader and 19-year-old Christopher Gribble were arraigned on first-degree murder and other charges Tuesday. Eighteen-year-old William Marks and 17-year-old Quinn Glover are charged with burglary, robbery and other crimes.

Prosecutors said the teens picked the home at random but all four knew of the plan to kill whoever was home.
