WALTHAM, Mass. -- Three employees at a Waltham jewelry store went to great lengths to stop man who took off with two diamond rings.

Melanie Marcou who works at Marcou Jewelry on Moody Street was showing a customer a diamond ring worth $7,500 and another worth $20,000, when he grabbed the rings and ran.

“He grabbed both of them and booked it out the store,” Melanie Marcou said.

She took off after the man.

“I went after him. I started running, chasing him down the street, around the corner," Melanie Marcou said.

Owner Bob Marcou saw his daughter take off after the man and followed behind with his sister.

The three of them went running and screaming at the man down busy Moody Street.

Timothy Shruhan, of South Boston, had a man waiting for him in a getaway car.

“Basically I dove on the guy and tackled him and he sorta fell on the front seat and I dragged him out of the front seat as his buddy was pulling away so we both fell to the ground, he dragged us a little ways,” said

Melanie Marcou kept screaming at the man to give back the diamonds. He eventually threw both of them at her.

“I felt like the good guys won this time,” said Bob Marcou.

Police arrested Shruhan, but are still looking for the driver of the getaway car.

The Marcous have owned the jewelry story since 1962. Bob Marcou noted this is the third time the store has been robbed, but this is the first time the robber did not get away with it.
