New Danvers explosion video revealed to public
DANVERS, Mass. -- The public is getting a look at dramatic video of what is still being called the largest explosion in Massachusetts history.
Attorneys for the Danversport Trust as well as residents impacted by the enormous November 2006 chemical explosion will be able to view the video during a public meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Holten Richmond Middle School.
The results of their investigation will be shown to the press.
Attorney Jan Schlictmann said the video shows how a worker for Ashland Chemical delivered a tanker truck of highly volatile solvents to the facility and assisted CAI workers.
The Danversport Trust formed in the aftermath of the explosion and represents more than 300 people from 100 homes and a dozen businesses devastated by the blast.
Ashland Inc. released a statement Monday that read in part, "As independent investigations have already determined, Ashland played no role in that event, and we are therefore surprised and dismayed with a threatened lawsuit at this late date, nearly three years after the incident. Thorough independent investigations by state and federal authorities into the cause of the incident came to conclusions that never referenced or implicated Ashland in any way. Ashland fulfilled all of its duties and responsibilities and played no role in this tragic situation. We intend to vigorously defend against these meritless claims at the proper time and place and we expect to be fully vindicated."
