Carciero had bizarre confrontation in 2007
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- According to police paperwork from April 2007, there was a confrontation between a police officer and Jay Carciero who was shot and killed by Paul Langone while attacking a physician Oct. 27.
7News uncovered a report from April 6, 2007 detailing how Carciero followed a woman in his car and was charged with failure to submit to a police officer and giving false information to a police officer.
According to the police report, a woman stopped a police officer at 7:30 a.m. and seemed visibly upset.
The woman said she was being followed from Route 4 to Route 2 towards Cambridge and that Carciero would not allow another car between them. She said she was doing everything to avoid him.
The woman turned into the Alewife "T" station and then exited the parking lot and he remained right behind her.
The woman then called her husband, who told her to keep driving until she saw a police officer.
When confronted, Carciero told the officer that he didn't have a license and replied that his name was "James Black."
When asked for his social security number, he replied, "No."
The woman recognized Carciero immediately last week when reports came out about the incident at Massachusetts General Hospital.
That day Carciero reportedly attacked Dr. Astrid Derosier with a knife. Langone, an off-duty security guard, told the patient to drop the knife. When Carciero did not comply, Langone shot and killed him.
