Lab experiment sickens BU grad student

BOSTON -- Tests have confirmed a lab experiment was the source of the bacterial infection that recently sickened a Boston University graduate student.

According to the Boston Globe, genetic testing matched a sample from the student with material from the lab where he worked.

Investigators are looking into how he was exposed to the germ.

Boston’s biological lab safety division will review procedures at BU’s medical facilities.
