FOXBORO, Mass. -- An MBTA driver got a pat on the back at Sunday’s Patriots game.

Orange Line operator Charice Lewis was driving a train into North Station when a woman fell onto the tracks.

Commuters waiting for the train began waving their arms to get Lewis to stop the train.

Lewis was able to slam on the brakes just in the nick of time, saving the woman’s life.

“I just threw it in emergency, exactly what I’m supposed to do, and it stopped just in time not to hurt her. That was my whole thing. It was so close, that I thought it was bad,” said Lewis of the incident.

Police believe Sophia Hartdegen was drunk when she fell onto the tracks. Hartdegen issued a statement after the incident thanking her fellow passengers and Lewis for saving her life.
