PLYMPTON, Mass. -- Police are looking for a snow plow driver who hit a woman in Plympton on Monday afternoon, then drove away.

The woman was walking on the side of the road near 377 Main Street when she was hit. She suffered serious injuries.

“The incident here involved a hit-and-run. The pedestrian was struck from behind by the front end of this vehicle. This person really should have been aware that they struck something of significance. Even if you felt you might have hit an object as opposed to a person, you’re required to stop and make yourself known,” said Chief Matthew Clancy of the Plympton Police Department.

Police said some drivers heading by the area described the vehicle involved as a smaller-sized, tan-colored SUV with a yellow plow on the front.

The accident reconstruction team entered some information about the SUV into their computers and even made some matches, but they are still looking for more information from the public that could lead them to the driver.

The woman was transported to a hospital in Boston. She is listed in serious condition.
