Honesty pays for MBTA bus driver

ARLINGTON, Mass. -- Honesty paid off for an MBTA bus driver who went out of his way to help a customer.
MBTA bus driver Dank Combs was all smiles as he read a glowing letter calling him a “goodwill ambassador.”
“I had no clue a letter like this would be written about me,” said Combs.
It goes back to a ride on his route the day after Christmas. From his rearview mirror, he saw an elderly passenger on a frantic search.
“She said, ‘I can’t find my purse!’” said Combs.
Combs stopped his bus and made a call.
“So I called the store, and the lady said she had the purse,” said Combs.
It turns out the woman had left her purse in a shopping cart at a nearby grocery store. With Combs’ help, she got it back.
“Anytime somebody loses their purse, it’s important,” said Combs.
Combs said he loves his job, mostly because of the people he meets. He said he is just happy he could help one of them out.
“People need help, I don’t mind doing that. They’re lost, I try to put them in the right direction...I don’t mind working with people,” said Combs.
Combs’ good deed didn’t go unrewarded. Not only did he get a letter praising him, but the passenger gave him a box of candy on the spot.
