BOSTON -- Logan International Airport is going green.

Full body scanners arrived at Logan earlier this week. In addition to these changes, Logan has installed the largest solar panel of any public building in Massachusetts.

More than 1,000 solar panels are already installed on top of the Terminal B garage, and they are producing renewable energy. The garage is also the first to utilize energy-efficient LED lighting.

“The energy saving from both…over 50 percent…used to be used here,” said Sam Sleiman, director of Capital Programs & Environmental Affairs.

Massport has reported that the panels will help save about 3,500 barrels of oil every year.
