Mayor Menino attends Boston spelling bee

BOSTON – Boston Mayor Thomas Menino caused quite the buzz in the city Saturday.

He joined a group of students from across Boston for a spelling bee.

While the mayor didn't have to spell, he did hand out awards to the students at Faneuil Hall.

He told parents how important it was that they be involved in their children's lives.

He even poked a little fun at himself.

The winner of the bee moves onto the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
