Police shoot and kill pitbull
BOSTON -- A police officer shot and killed a pitbull Monday night after it went on the attack.
David Josef and his partner, Dan Forreter, were dog-sitting for a friend when the canine started biting and clawing at him.
"It just came out of nowhere, I was a skirmish," Forreter said. "She was angry, she was showing her teeth."
Josef's dog, Buzz, jumped in to protect his owner, but the pitbull, named Brownie, attacked the dog. Buzz, a pug, ended up in the jaws of the pitbull.
"I got his mouth open, which it pretty unbelievable because their jaws lock, but I was biting her," Josef said. "I pulled open her mouth, he got his head out."
The pitbull then went after Forreter.
"She started snapping and biting everywhere," Forreter said. "She grabbed a hold of my leg four or five times and I have about 17 puncture wounds here."
When police arrived at the scene the dog lunged at officers, forcing one of them to shoot and kill the canine.
Forreter was taken to Boston Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. He is expected to be released Wednesday morning.
