Local high school locked down after threat

SAUGUS, Mass. -- Saugus High School was put into lockdown as a precautionary measure on Friday.

Officials said an unidentified caller phoned in a threat around 10:45 a.m. The caller said there was a gun inside the school.

Within minutes, the school was locked down.

Students were dismissed for the day. Freshman and sophomores were bussed to Blessed Sacrament Church. Juniors and seniors were taken to American Legion Hall.

Police said parents were allowed to pick up their children.
