Gas station canopy collapse caused by weekend weather
WORCESTER, Mass. -- A canopy covering a gas station crashed down under the weight of two winter storms.
The incident happened at Xtra Mart gas station on 327 West Boylston Street in Worcester.
A preliminary investigation determined that years of damage from salt and weather weakened the support columns, causing the structure to come down.
Officials said nobody was hurt.
Owners of the station are expected to apply for a permit to rebuild the canopy. The structure is planned to be torn down Tuesday morning.
