Boston Police officer arrested in Savannah, Ga.

BOSTON -- Boston Police officer Thomas Joyce, 46, was arrested Friday at the St. Patrick's Day festival in Savannah, Ga.

Joyce forced his way into the home of two women and held them against their will. He physically restrained the women and pulled them out of their home, but took nothing. Officers patrolling the festival apprehended Joyce after he fled the scene and charged him with false imprisonment, simple battery, obstruction and criminal trespass. He was taken to Chatham County jail.

Sergeant Joyce has been on the force for more than 10 years. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the internal affairs investigation. Police Commissioner Davis was extremely disappointed to receive the news. The department is working to determine the exact facts and circumstances of the incident.
