JFK Library honors officials who challenged voting systems

BOSTON -- Two election officials have been honored at the John F. Kennedy Library for their efforts to maintain the integrity of the vote in their respective states.
California Secretary of State Debra Bowen and Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner were presented with Profile in Courage Awards on Monday. The annual honors are named for a 1957 Pulitzer Prize-winning book authored by John F. Kennedy.
Bowen and Brunner both challenged the reliability of electronic voting systems.
A Profile in Courage award will also be given Monday to former Mississippi Gov. William Winter for promoting racial equality and educational opportunity in his state.
The awards are administered by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, headed by the former president's daughter, Caroline Kennedy.
