One man injured in manhole explosion
QUINCY, Mass. -- One person was injured in an underground manhole explosion in North Quincy Thursday.
The explosion happened at the North Quincy MBTA Station on East Squantum Street between Newport Avenue and Hancock Street.
According to the MBTA, two Environment Services of Boston employees were working inside of the manhole to remove asbestos when the fire and explosion happened.
One man suffered serious burns and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.
There is no word on the cause of the explosion.
