BOSTON -- Major roads around the Charles River Esplanade will be closing today as the city prepares for the annual Fourth of July Boston Pops concert and fireworks spectacular.
The state Department of Conservation and Recreation says Storrow Drive between Leverett Circle and Kenmore Square will close in both directions at 7:30 a.m.
Memorial Drive on the Cambridge side of the river will close in both directions at 4:30 p.m. between the Longfellow Bridge and Massachusetts Avenue. At 6 p.m., the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge will close in both directions from Beacon Street in Boston to Vassar Street in Cambridge.
The Longfellow Bridge will be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians will not be allowed to watch fireworks from the bridge as they have in the past.
