Two arrested with 9 kg of cocaine in Medford
MEDFORD, Mass. -- Authorities say two Medford residents have been arrested and arraigned on charges stemming from the seizure of about nine kilograms of cocaine worth $500,000.
Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone says 43-year-old Heriberto Cruz and 29-year-old Patricia Taia were arraigned Tuesday on charges of trafficking cocaine and conspiracy to traffic cocaine over 200 grams.
Somerville District Court Judge Maurice Flynn set cash bail at $250,000 for Cruz and $1,000 for Taia.
Investigators say say a search of Cruz's home on Monday yielded 7 kilograms of cocaine. An additional 2 kilograms were found in Taia's vehicle parked in the driveway.
The suspects' next court appearance is set for August 20 for a status hearing.
